Adeline Maas, 85 of Stoddard, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday October 18, 2012. She was born the fourth child to Paul and Frieda Illemann in Milwaukee on September 9th, 1927. Adeline grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Solomon Juneau high school in 1946. On June 5th 1948 she married the LOVE of her Life, Robert Otto Maas. She lived most of her life in Menomonee Falls, until her retirement in 1992, when she then made Stoddard her home.
Adeline was the neighborhood baker. If anyone looked like they were getting too thin, it wouldnt be long before a cheesecake or brownies was delivered to their door. She also enjoyed playing cards with her son Cliff and his wife Edna. Adeline and Bob enjoyed each others company for 61 glorious years. They traveled many years together with their friends Bob and Ruth Kimball. Bob and Adeline had many lifelong friends that were so very special to both of them. She will always hold a special place in her heart for the dear people at the Hungry Peddler and Perkins, breakfast was an essential meal which started her day with great company and friendship.
Adeline is survived by four children; Clifford (Edna) Maas of West Salem, Barbara (Craig) Sedlmayr of Stoddard, Jeff (Jane) Maas of La Crescent, MN, and Timothy (Jenny) Maas of Menomonee Falls. Adeline was a very proud grandmother of eight grandchildren; Kimberlee (Greg) Ashwell, Jeremy (Theresa) Maas, Cory Sedlmayr, Caron (Adam) Malin, Brian (Amanda) Maas, Laurie Maas, Amanda Maas and Benjamin Maas. She also had a chosen granddaughter Hailey Kirven. Adeline also had five great-grandchildren; Katja, Haidyn and Jonah Ashwell; Lydia and William Maas.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents Frieda and Paul Illemann, her brother Heintz Illemann, her sister Marion Gilray, and her sister and brother-in-law Gertie and George Beck.
Funeral services will be held at Schumacher Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Sunday October 21st at 11:00AM, followed by a private burial in Riverside Cemetery, Stoddard. Friends and family may call from 10:00am until the time of services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Maas family, make a donation to your favorite charity, or the Stoddard Bergen Fire Department. Adeline will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
