Jerilyn J. Newman, 69 of Onalaska, died Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. She was born July 6, 1943 in Viroqua Wisconsin to and preceded in death by Kenneth and Marian (Klein) Newman. The first of eleven children, she spent much of her childhood with her grandfather, Rev. Chareles Klein where she found her love of Christ that only grew each day of her life. At a young age she moved to California where she became a staunch conservative. She later ran a day care center and raised her only son. She returned to Wisconsin, moving to La Crosse in 1999 and then settling in Onalaska in 2001. She was an artist who cared for every animal and person in her life. Late in life she found a love for genealogy where she found an extended family.
Jerilyn is survived by her only son, Anthony Michael Newman of Onalaska; her siblings; Alona (Allen) Eidsmoe of La Crosse, Rob (Judy) Newman of Kasson, MN, Mary (Roger) Rhode of Black River Falls, Gary (Karla) Newman of Stoddard, Wayne (Sue) Newman of Kingston, WA, Peggy (Tim) Mormann of Dresbach, MN, Lorrie (Woody Marthenzie) Newman of Milton, FL, Julie (Mark) Droog of Clairemont, MN, Jodi (Shawn) Scarlett of La Crosse and Shelly McMahon of La Crosse, along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 1thstth at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 907 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska with Pastor Phillip Stein officiating. Burial will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon until the time of services.
