Reta Ellen Schuette was born on March 13, 1924 in Reedsburg, WI to Herman and Frieda (Rose) Kutzbach. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Peters Lutheran Church. After graduating from Reedsburg High School, she worked at the Reedsburg Bank. During WWII she volunteered as a Red Cross Nurses Aide evenings and weekends. On February 3, 1951 she married Harold C. Schuette in St. Peters Lutheran Church. Harold died June 3, 1986. Following their marriage they moved to Monroe, WI where she worked at Monroe Specialty Co. until the children were born. They later moved to La Crosse where she worked at Northwest Trust Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1991. Reta liked music and sang in choirs throughout her life. She was an accomplished seamstress and liked to garden, especially flower gardening. She was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Mothers Club, Luther High Auxiliary and Learning in Retirement. She also volunteered at Good Steward.

She is survived by three daughters Rosalie Schuette of Salt Lake City, UT, Peggy (John) Pieper of Chaseburg, WI and Pamela (Rev. Allen) Lonnquist of Dawson, MN, grandchildren Micah (Jen), Kyle and Hans Pieper, Erik, Carl (Theresa), Crystal (fiance Ryan Lewandowski), Daniel (Hye Un), Peter, Laura, Lydia Lonnquist and Katrina (Justin) Siegert, and one great grand-daughter Victoria Pieper. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of La Crosse. Pastor Richard Pamperin will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery in Reedsburg, WI. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of service. Memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church or Luther High School. The Schumacher Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family.
