She was born in the Town of Hamilton on December 15, 1925, to Harry and Clara (Miller) Garbers and later graduated from Bangor High School. On June 5, 1946, she married W. Curtis Jenkins at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in West Salem. Curt preceded her in death on April 13, 2001.
Marjorie worked at the W.A. Roosevelt Co. in La Crosse for several years and then worked at First Bank in La Crosse for 10 years. She was a long-time member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse where she was active in the Ladies Aid organization for many years.
Marjorie was a loving wife and mother, and a devoted grandmother to her seven granddaughters whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her three children, Linda (Tom) Schultz of Flower Mound, Texas, Susan (John) Ault of Barrington, Ill., and Steven (Robin) Jenkins of Eagan, Minn.; her seven granddaughters, Courtney Schultz (fianc, Mike Benson), Marisa Schultz (fianc, Blake Baker), Catherine and Kristin Ault, and Ashley, Hannah, and Amanda Jenkins; her sister, Louise Blashaski of Bangor, Wis.; her brother, Ronald (Nina) Garbers of Hutchinson, Minn.; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Curt, Marjorie was also preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Hemker and Ardell Beall; and one brother, Herbert Garbers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17th, at 11:00 a.m., at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Rev. Roger Sachs will officiate. Burial will take place in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse, on Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Ev. Lutheran Church or Luther High School in her memory are preferred.
