Sue E Schams

Sue E. Suzi Schams, 65 of La Crosse passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 in her home. She was born May 24, 1947 in Hazel Green, WI to Delbert and June (Chadwick) Hammill. On November 9, 1968 she married Dale Sonny Schams in La Crosse and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2001. Suzi had worked as a nurse technician in the cardiac care unit at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center for 38 years until her retirement in 2003. Suzis first love during her career was taking care of patients, in which she was always dedicated, thorough and gentle.

Suzi is survived by her two children; Chris (Amy) Schams of South Lyon, MI and Heidi (Ryan) Koresh of Boscobel, WI; four grandchildren, Alyssa and Zachary Schams both of South Lyon, MI and Lance and Brody Koresh both of Boscobel, WI; 9 brothers and sisters; Kathy (John) Myers of Middleton, WI, Harley Gene (Kathy)Hammill of Prairie du Chien, Maralyn (Dale) Wood of Bagley, WI, Raymond Hammill of Madison, Patti Ludvik of Bagley, WI, LaRita (Jim) Kinder of Prairie du Chien, Barbara Eckert of New Glarus, WI, Beverly (Glenn) Wood of Fitchburg, WI and Conrad (Kim) Hammill of Prairie du Chien; along with several nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. In addition to her husband, Dale she was preceded in death by an infant son Matthew, her parents, a brother, Jerry Hammill and a sister, Leora Kirschbaum.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 8th at Mt. Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse with Pastor Robert Wassermann officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Friday from 4-7 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to New Horizons Women and Childrens Center.
