Carol Audrey King, 85, of Onalaska, went home to heaven on Monday, December 10, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Sparta. She was born on October 16, 1927 in La Crosse to George and Lydia (Steuve) Unnasch. Carol graduated from La Crosse Central High School. She had worked as a cashier at National Foods for many years and also at Klein Insurance. Carol enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge club friends in La Crescent. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary in La Crescent since 1948.
She is survived by her husband Richard Dick King, her three children, David (Annie) Jansen of Onalaska, Barbara (David) Wilder of La Crosse and Jacqui (Gerry) Brokaw of Charleston, SC, seven grandchildren, Nichole Jansen-Clay of Madison, WI, Paul (Ruth) Jansen of Ft. Wayne, IN, Mark (Tara) Jansen of Cincinnati, OH, Bradley (Kristin) Wilder of Menomonee Falls, WI, Bryce (Nora) Wilder of La Crosse, Lindsey (Cole) Passe of La Crosse, and Bradiann (Jacob) Burch of La Crosse, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Dicks three children, Wendy Kittelson of Alexandria, MN, DeWayne (DeDe) King of Sparta and Cindy Shirk of St. Paul, MN, five grandchildren, Dana (Ryan) Cordes of Zimmerman, MN, D.J. (Mary) Kittelson of Nelson, MN, Don (Janae) King of Sparta, Doug King of Sparta, and Riley Shirk of So. St. Paul, MN, three great-grandchildren, a sister Sharon (Ken) Spalding of Winona, a brother-in-law Lewis Thesing of La Crescent, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arthur Jansen and Donald Iverson, a step-son Jonathan King, two sisters, Ardelle Krage and Mavis Thesing, two brothers-in-law, Herbert Krage and Lawrence Cornwell, a nephew Eddie Thesing and a great-niece Brittany Fuchsel.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 14th, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, La Crosse. Pastor David Leistekow will officiate. Committal services will be held in the spring in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Thursday from 4:00 7:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
