Robert B. Rye, Sr., 93 of Onalaska, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center. He was born March 6, 1919 in La Crosse to Henry and Bertha (Maas) Rye and graduated from Logan High School. Bob had served in the United States Army during WWII. On February 11, 1954 he married Nola Kriewald in Dubuque, IA. and she preceded him in death on February 1, 2006. He had worked as a conductor for the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe Railroad for many years until his retirement.
Bob is survived by two daughters; Donna (Thomas) Berven of Neenah, WI and Marye (Alan) Harris of Holmen, WI; two sons, David Rye (Ellen Kritchman) of La Crosse and Bob Rye of Hawaii; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; Greg (Jodi) Berven and their children, Seth and Noah; Christina (Daniel) Kotchen and their children, Emma, Theodore and Benjamin; and Ben Berven; along with a brother, Thomas Rye of Holmen. In addition to his wife Nola, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie (William) Lauer.
Bobs wishes were to have graveside services next to his wife at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Services will be held in the spring and will be announced by the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse.
