Raymond E. Janisch, 80 of La Crosse passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center following an extended battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born November 22, 1932 in La Crosse to Emil and Margaret (Mullenberg) Janisch and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1951. Ray then began his career as a welder at Trane Company until entering the United States Army in March of 1955, serving until his discharge in March of 1957. Upon returning to La Crosse he resumed his career with Trane Company until his retirement in 1998. On June 14, 1958 Ray married Shirley Bergen in La Crosse. In addition to his work at Trane, Ray also worked in construction, building homes for many years. He loved all kinds of animals and enjoyed being outdoors. Ray was a member of the Trane 25 year club.

In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by a daughter; Linda (Joe) Dingeldein of La Crosse; two sons, Patrick (Lisa) Janisch of Hastings, MN and Bob Janisch of Stoddard; three grandchildren, Sara Dingeldein of La Crosse; Jessica (Eric) Prettyman and Jenna Janisch both of Hastings, MN; two brothers, Ervin (Hazel) Janisch of La Crosse and James (Carol) Janisch of Kellogg, MN; a sister-in-law, Diana Janisch of La Crosse and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Del Janisch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, December 20th in the Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Berger officiating. Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Care Center on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Aquinas High School, La Crescent Humane Society or Coulee Region Humane Society. Raymonds family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. David Momont and the entire staff at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center for their loving care and support.
