Marjorie Mae Lind

d. January 2, 2013

Marjorie (Marge) Mae Lind, 74, of La Crescent, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at her home from lung cancer, which was diagnosed just four months earlier. She was born on December 28, 1938 in Chisholm, Minnesota to John and Catherine (Scaia) Grahek. Marge attended school in Chisholm until moving to Hastings, MN with her family, where she graduated. She was raised Catholic and confirmed in the Catholic Church. Marge married Charles F. Lind on January 23, 1965 in Waukon, Iowa, and lived in La Crescent until the time of her death. After their three children were all in school, Marge went back to work as a legal secretary at Johns & Flaherty Law Firm, retiring from there after over 25 years of service. Marge loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and they were truly her passion in life. Her genuine patience, selflessness and unconditional love will never be forgotten by them. Marge also enjoyed reading, playing Solitaire, doing the daily crossword puzzle in the La Crosse Tribune and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She was a faithful Minnesota Vikings fan, which would only make sense since her favorite color was purple.

Survivors include her husband, Charles, of nearly forty-eight years, three children Danne (Doug) Kraft of Springbrook, WI, Kim Myhre of La Crescent, MN and Marty Lind of La Crescent, MN, four grandchildren Joshua and Travis Kraft of Springbrook and Kenny and Lexi Myhre of La Crescent, one sister Janean Gegen of Henderson, NV and her six children and their families, one brother David (Carol) Grahek of Yucatan, MN along with other relatives and friends. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her mother & father-in-law, a brother-in-law Tom Gegen and various other relatives.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Schumacher Kish Funeral Home, 111 S. Oak St., La Crescent. Pastor Timothy Ashley will officiate. Burial of her cremains will take place in the Spring. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the La Crescent American Legion.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses of Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice Program in La Crosse for the compassionate care given to Marge and to Drs. Paula Gill, Dale Groshek and Marty Runyon and other staff of the Mayo Cancer Center. We are truly grateful for all you have done.
