Ernest H. Ernie Baker, 82 of Holmen, WI, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. He was born in Stevenstown, WI, on June 23, 1930 to Melvin and Beatrice (Lovell) Baker. He married Audrey Eno on September 5, 1952 in Aberdeen, MD. Ernie had worked at NSP (Excel Energy) for twenty six years retiring as a Mechanic Foreman in 1992. He had proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until his discharge in 1953. He was a perpetual member of the Galesville Masonic Temple, the Holmen American Legion Post 284 and a lifetime member of Lewis Valley Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Ernie enjoyed working on antique cars and could often be found in his machine shop at his turning lathe fabricating parts not only for himself but for the many people he knew and helped.

In addition to his loving wife Audrey of 60 years, Ernie is survived by his three daughters Sharon (Jim) Heim of Holmen, Sandy (Dan) Haag of Holmen, Shirley (Ed) Hersh of Trempealeau, WI, one son Steve (Terri) Baker of Onalaska, WI, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three sisters, Margaret Frank of Galesville, June (Web) Brown of Galesville and Myrtle (LeRoy) Johnson of Somers, WI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Marvin.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Lewis Valley Lutheran Church in Stevenstown. Pastor Donald Fox will officiate. Burial with military rites by the Holmen American Legion will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on the family at the church Monday morning from 10 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used In Ernies memory.
