Morris O Kvamme

d. January 5, 2013

Our father, Morris O. Kvamme 84 of La Crosse, took his last breath in his home shortly before the Packer/Viking playoff game on Saturday, January 5, 2013. Morris was born to Myrtle (Everson) and Oliver Kvamme on September 17, 1928 in Soldiers Grove. He met and married his wife of 63 years, Audrey Techmer in La Crosse where he resided for the remainder of his life. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife, Audrey, his son, Thomas (Minda) Kvamme of Henderson, NV, his son, Gary Kvamme of La Crosse, his daughter, Shelley (Dean) Ghelfi of La Crosse and his grandson, Joshua Ghelfi of La Crosse. Other survivors are three sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, a special Aunt Jeannette Kvamme, his mother and father-in-law, and several brother and sister-in-laws.

Being a truck driver with Bob Johnson Oil Co., for 30 years, he got to meet a lot of people while on the job and also while working part-time before retiring in 1988. It was by chance while serving in the Navy that he was stationed at Pearl Harbor with his brother who was serving in the Marines at the time. Morris was a social person. He loved to talk, whether it be on the many shopping trips with his wife and daughter by striking up a conversation with strangers waiting patiently on a bench in the mall for them or while on trips to the grocery store or Snap Fitness with his wife and son to visit with his friends in various departments. He also enjoyed to travel. In his well lived life he was able to vacation in Hawaii, Florida, California, Nashville, Branson and many years at the MN State Fair and gambling bus trips. His family can't count how many times he went to Las Vegas to visit his son, daughter-in-law and of course, their dogs. A few other past times were watching his grandson play baseball, doing word searches, taking walks and just sitting in his favorite chair to watch western movies and Packer games.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Service, La Crosse. Pastor Richard Pamprin will officiate. Friends may call on the family Tuesday evening prior to the services from 5pm until 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
