Jacqueline Rose Hoch

d. January 25, 2013

Jacqueline Rose Hoch, 84 of La Crosse, WI, and formerly of La Crescent, MN, passed away on Friday, January 25th. She was born on July 11, 1928 to John and Anna (Konzem) Hafner. Jackie graduated from Aquinas High School in 1946 and the St. Francis School of Nursing in 1950. Jackie worked as the head nurse in the Pediatrics department at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital and as a nurse at Hillview Healthcare Center. She married Andrew Hoch on August 2, 1964. Her focus moved from nursing to raising children and working on the family orchard. Summers, weekends, and holidays were spent at the orchard with her family. In 1986 she moved to the orchard to grow vegetables and fruit with her son Harry. She enjoyed growing produce but her real love was vending at the La Crosse farmers market where many people will remember her parked next to her pal Nellie Pickle. After retiring from farming she moved to Becker Plaza La Crosse. She spent the last year of life in the compassionate care of Hearten House Memory Care Center.

Jackie is survived by her son Harry (Jackie) Hoch of La Crescent and their children Angi and Missy; daughter Andrea (Roy) Shipman of Oregon; Tim (Rebecca) Hoch of Jacksonville, FL, and their children Caitlin and Bailey Hoch, one sister Betty Koby of La Crosse and her loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother Robert Hafner.

Friends may call on the family at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, La Crosse chapel, 200 West Avenue South. Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate.
