Daniel E Sopher

He was born in La Crosse on July 4, 1923, to Daniel C. and Josephine (Kerska) Sopher. He married LaVaughn N. Skaar on August 24, 1949. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2007.

Daniel served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as an MP in Italy. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years, first as a railway mail clerk and then as a supervisor at the La Crosse Post Office before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three daughters, Dianne Gora of Onalaska, Sharon Lueck of La Crosse, and Vicki Hart of Dunnellon, Fla.; six grandchildren, Jeff Gora, Sheryl Gora-Bollom, Kristy Eichhorn, Dawnn Allen, Nina Blazier, and Nicki Lindgren; eight great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, LaVaughn, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debi Lindgren; two sisters, Mary Sopher and Josephine Sopher; and one brother, James Sopher.

Graveside services with military honors will take place on Monday, February 4th, at 2:00 p.m., at Onalaska City Cemetery. Rev. Scott Skogen will officiate.
