Mildred M. Johnson, 94, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2013 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, with her best friend, loving and beloved daughter at her side. She was born in La Crosse on February 7, 1918 to William and Gertrude (Retzlaff) Limpert. She married Addison J. Johnson in 1939. Together they had one child, Marian. They later divorced. She then married Chester I. Johnson in 1947. Millie graduated from Logan High School in January of 1936. She then worked in Logan High Schools office until her marriage to Addison. She later worked at Striechers Drug Store, the La Crosse Telephone Company and Alexander Grant & Co., from which she retired in 1981, after 30 years of service.

She is survived by her daughter and devoted caregiver, Marian, a step grand-daughter Renee (George) Kochigian and nieces Candy Luehne and Penny Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chet, a brother Howard, her step-daughter Carol (Johnson) Miller as well as six sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 1201 Avon St., La Crosse. Pastor David Leistekow will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service.

The family would like to express very heartfelt gratitude for the care, love and devotion, for both Millie and Marian, given by the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Care staff, hospice volunteers Diann and Cindee, and the Gundersen Lutheran 4 Center Hospice staff.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church or a charity of the donors choice.
