Ramona M. (Arenz) Loughan of New Glarus and formerly of Monticello and La Crosse, died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, January 5, 2013. Ramona was born November 19, 1942 in La Crosse to Albert P. and Rosalia (Niesen) Arenz. She was raised on farms in Mormon Coulee before moving to La Crosse where she lived until her late 20s. She married Raymond Loughan in 1962 and had one son, William Joseph. After completing her Bachelors Degree at Wisconsin State University-La Crosse, Ramona moved to Green County where she was employed as a Media Specialist/English teacher at Monticello Schools from 1972 until 2003. She earned her Masters Degree at Wisconsin State Universities-Oshkosh and La Crosse. She was instrumental in implementing two media building programs for Monticello Schools and raising monetary funding for the elementary library facility. She also served as Monticello Public Library Board President and helped the system set up a new library facility for the Village of Monticello. Ramonas hobbies included traveling, scrapbooking and she was an avid reader.

Ramona is survived by a son; William Bill (Joan) Loughan and a grandson, Sam Loughan all of West Salem, WI. She will also be greatly missed by friends, nieces and nephews and honorary nieces, Sara Loomis and Danielle Peterson; goddaughter, Madeline Peterson, and special friends, Karen (Don) Marti of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

A memorial service will be held at 10:45 AM on Saturday, February 23thrdth at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Inurnment will follow in Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be given in Ramonas name to Apostolate to the Handicapped, P.O. Box 443, Monroe, WI 53566 or St. Jude Childrens Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
