Matthew Frederick Wobeck entered his eternal home on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the age of 49. He was born on February 21, 1964 in Manitowoc, WI to Clyde and Rhoda (Bartling) Wobeck. Matthew became a child of God through Holy Baptism on March 3, 1964 at First German Lutheran Church in Manitowoc by his grandfather, Rev. Fred Bartling. He was confirmed at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Kenosha, WI, where his father was the principal. Matthew graduated from Northwestern Preparatory School and College in Watertown, WI in preparation for Holy Ministry. In 1996 he graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. He served his vicar year at Flagstaff, AZ and his first call was as a missionary to Antigua and St. Lucia, West Indies. Matthew also served parishes in Douglas and Warren, AZ and the Indian Reservation at San Carlos, AZ. In 1999 he married Lori Guzman and they later divorced. Since 2001 he has worked at Kwik Trip. Matthew was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Onalaska where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher.

He is survived by his son Gideon, his parents, Clyde and Rhoda Wobeck, two sisters, Martha (Dr. Steven) Witt and Ruth (Ret. Navy Commander Daniel) Kinstler, nieces and nephews, Jacob (Marisa) Witt and their children Ella and Kayden, Rachel (Alex) Zeller, PFC Isaiah (Olivia) Witt, Noah Witt, Hanna Witt, and Rebecca, Joseph, and Sarah Kinstler, three uncles, Warren (Violet) Wobeck, August (Donna) Wobeck and Earl Wobeck, and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, August and Mabel Wobeck and Rev. Fred and Verna Bartling, and an uncle, Rev. Mark F. Bartling.

Private family services and burial will be officiated by Pastor Donald Stein.
