John H. Johnson, 51 of West Salem, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. He was born in La Crosse on February 11, 1962 to Harvey and Sandra (Doering) Johnson. On June 28, 1986 he married Kathy Koehn in La Crosse and they later divorced.

John was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to hunt and fish. He had worked for many years at Matthews Inc. of Sparta where he made bows. He had a true passion for the craftsmanship of what he did and will be dearly missed by his Matthews family. John loved to spend time on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and also loved to ride his bicycle. He had a great sense of humor and loved to do impressions. His infectious smile will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his two children; Cori Johnson of La Crosse and Connor Johnson of La Crosse, two sisters Janet (Scott) Allen of La Crescent, Sheila (Roger) Malmin of La Crescent, his nephews and niece, Cody and Kylie Allen, Jacob and Tanner Malmin and great nephew Brayden Allen. He is further survived by his former wife Kathy Leis of Chaseburg, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Memorial services will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel located at 200 West Ave. South. Chaplain Warren Wetherbee will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 4 until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Johns memory.
