Roger "Sharky" L. Bolstad, 77,of La Crosse passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at home with family by his side after a courageous 11year battle with cancer.He was born April 5,1935 to Elmer and Eva (Larson) Bolstad and grew up in the Readstown, Wis area. He married Janice "Jan" Smith on July 14,1956 at Franklin Lutheran Church in Folsom Wis. He was employed at Rau Oil Company, Bob Johnson Oil Company, and Mathy Construction. After retirement he worked part time at Coulee Golf Bowl in Onalaska. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards,golfing,casino trips,and going to dances. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.He is survived by his wife, Jan; daughter, Cynthia (Gary) Cossette of La Crosse and son Randal (Adrienne) Bolstad of Naperville, Illinois; six grandchildren, Cory (Angie) Cossette and Brian Cossette of La Crosse,Lori Henneman of Blaine Minnesota,Kelsey and Riley Bolstad and Bailey Neher of Naperville Illinois;3 great-grandchildren,Laila Cossette and
Clara and Grace Henneman . He is also survived by two brothers,Nordine (Marilyn Bickle)
and Jerry (Pat) Bolstad of Rockford,Illinois,sister-in-laws Alberta Bolstad of Viroqua, Neva Bolstad of Jefferson Wis., Shirley Latham of Viroqua, Mary Venegas of Citrus Heights,California, Maureen Smith of Onalaska, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Fred and Barb Smith of Sparta. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arnold,Norman (Helen),Elling, and Elmer, Jr.,sister Clarice (Winston) Johnson,half-brother Harold (Doris) Baldwin; father and mother-in law Harold and Mabel Smith, brother
and sister-in-laws Raymond Smith,Lyall Latham, Eldon and Ingrid Smith,Helen and Henry Miller.A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,March
2, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, 410 Main Street in Onalaska, with Pastor Jason Stanton officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from 10
:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A gathering for family and friends will be held following the service at the Onalaska American Legion,731Sand Lake Road in Onalaska. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church,Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation or the donor's choice.Roger's family would like to thank the Gundersen Lutheran MedicalCenter staff and their Hospice staff for their wonderful care and support,and family and friends for their prayers,love and support.
