Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Edna Marie Aiken, 93 of Circle Pines, MN, and formerly of La Crosse, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Cerenity Care Center in White Bear Lake, MN. She was born in Stevenstown, WI, on December 31, 1919 to Alexander and Bertina (Hanson) Ekern. She married Donald Aiken in La Crosse in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1992. Edna lived her life always caring for others. She had provided day care for over twenty years. She was active in the Military Order of the Purple Heart and had received her 500 hour volunteer pin for serving disabled veterans. She was also a past president of the American Legion Auxillary. She lived a Christian life and never doubted Gods path for her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Aiken of Fridley, MN, Vicki (Bob, who was very special to her)Parent of Circle Pines, MN, her beloved grandsons Matthew (Melissa), Ryan and Nicholas (Elizabeth), great granddaughter Audrey, special nephew Donnie and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son Gary. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hazel and Erv Janisch for making It possible for Edna to live in her home for a longer time and also to Nancy Krogh for the care she provided Edna at her Circle Pines residence. The family is greatful to the Cerenity Care Center staff for all the love and compassion they provided Edna during her short stay there.

Funeral services will be held 11 am on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Pastor J. David Bersagel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call on the family at the church on Thursday from 10am until the time of services. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Service of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the donors charity of choice.
