Philip R Piazza

Philip R. Piazza, 90, of La Crosse, died on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Bethany on Cass. He was born on June 24, 1922 in Gary, Indiana to August and Flora (Rogers) Piazza. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana in 1940. Philip served with the U.S. Army in Africa and Italy during WWII. On March 20, 1945 he married Norma Smith in La Crosse. He graduated from Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis, MN in 1949 with a degree in Mechanical Drafting. He and Norma were founding members of the La Crosse Antique Center. Together they liked to go camping and square dancing. Philip was a member of the Trane 25 year club. He enjoyed spending time with family and his grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons Roger (Kerri) Piazza of La Crosse and Mark (Luann) Piazza of Rochester, Minnesota, four grandchildren Anthony Piazza, Angela (Kevin) Freeman, Wade (Amy) Piazza and Steven Piazza. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 712 King St., La Crosse. Pastor Ellen Rasmussen will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Hiler Cemetery, Nodine, Minnesota. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorials are preferred to the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation. Schumacher Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, La Crosse Chapel is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bethany on Cass for the compassionate care and friendship they gave Phil. We would also like to thank the staff of Gundersen Lutheran Hospice.
