Marion G. Sleik, 94 of La Crosse, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Lighthouse unit of Bethany Riverside Nursing Facility after suffering from Alzheimers disease for many years. She was born on May 6, 1918 in Milwaukee to Chester R. and Jennie E.(Larsen) Johnson. She served the La Crosse community in numerous volunteer activities from Scouts and PTAs, to serving as a Past President of the Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary (now known as Partners). Marion and John were past co-chairs of the Marquette University Parents Association. She was an accomplished hostess who loved a party. She played bridge with regularity and enthusiasm until her health no longer permitted it.

Marion leaves five children: Suzanne (Gerald) Norgren, Sandra (Jack) Castek, Thomas (Judith) Sleik, Jonathan (Susan) Sleik and Sally (Michael) Lindahl. She leaves 16 grandchildren: Gary (Leslie) Norgren, Eric (Vicki) Norgren, Jeanne (Jim) Ryan, Peter (Shelly) Barrett, Todd Barrett, Scott (Chantel) Barrett, Jennifer (Mike) Dewberry, Julia (Arvind) Mozumdar, Joanna (Kevin) Park, Matthew (Cara) Sleik, Nathan Sleik, Megan (Josh) Latham, Ashley (Jeff) Olson, Jon Lindahl, Jay Lindahl and Alex Lindahl. She leaves 22 great grandchildren: Ryan and Courtney Norgren, Cameron and Cazzi Norgren, C.J. and Tyler Ryan, Jordan and Bryce Barrett, Kyrsten and Tyson Barrett, Max and Amelia Dewberry, Karina and Linnea Park, Matthew and Julianna Sleik, Trey, Nyssa and Dylan Sleik, Jonah and Thomas Latham, and Jed Olson. She is further survived by nephews and nieces: Laurie (Dan) Skibba, Dean (Elaine) Johnson, Joann (Joe Jackson) Leskovar, Judy (Jim) Russ, Jill (Tom) Brown, Julie Roberts, and David (Marge) Roberts.

Her husband John preceded Marion in death, in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Cassandra Barrett, her brother, Burt Johnson, as well as her nephew John (Diane) Johnson.

The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care and concern shown by Sharon Alden and the staff at Hearten House II for Mom. Their love and compassion is deeply appreciated.

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on May 11, at 3p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Marions memory.
