Joan worked at Sauer Memorial Nursing Home in Winona as a nurses aide for 27 years. She was especially fond of going to flea markets, and antiquing. Joan and Darrel enjoyed dining out at local restaurants. The two of them made trips in the summer to Eagle River to fish and boat with her daughter Anita and her family. She was famous for making s-mores over the camp fire. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved being together with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband,Darrel Voss of Dakota; Judy Rustad (daughter) and Bill Papenfuss (son-in-law) both of Houston, MN; Anita (daughter) and Steve Laking (Rustad) of McFarland, WI ; three step-children; Kerry Olafson and David Voss both of Rochester, MN; and Brenda Mades of Dakota MN. She had four grandchildren, Jason (Kristin) Papenfuss of Minneapolis, MN; Stephanie (Christopher) Fuchsel of Onalaska, WI; Damon Laking of Eagle River WI.; Aaron Laking of Eagle River, WI, and two step-grandchildren Dana (Jay) Laufenberg of Waunakee, WI and Michelle Laking of Muncie, IN. She also had two great-grandchildren Caden Fuchsel and Alivia Fuchsel both of Onalaska, WI, one sister Vicki Hoffman of West Salem, WI and one brother Norman Pickering of Holmen, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday April 22, 2013 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 907 Sand Lake Road in Onalaska, WI with Rev. Dana Jackson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Graveside services will follow in the Green Mound Cemetery in Holmen WI.
