Lilah Mae Grosskopf

d. May 19, 2013

Lilah was born in La Crosse on September 3, 1927, to Lloyd and Josephine (Burke) Schaefer. She attended Central High School, graduating in 1945. On May 22, 1948, Lilah married Jack Grosskopf. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2010. Lilah was fortunate to be a stay-at-home Mom and was always there for her children after school to share in their daily events.

Lilah enjoyed life and always had a great sense of humor about her. She liked being social and especially loved her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid bowler and golfer in her younger years and enjoyed playing (and beating) her family in Wii bowling in her later years. She read the La Crosse Tribune daily and enjoyed any card or dice game, especially if money was involved.

Lilah is survived by three daughters, Vicki (Jim) Davison, Cindy (Bill) Kallenbach, and Beth (Tim) Erickson; nine grandchildren, Adam (MacKenzie) Davison, Megan (Nick) Ulery, Lindsey Davison (Luke Corsbie), Carly Kallenbach (fianc, Joe Kessler), Jake Kallenbach (Sydney Gale), Ashley Erickson (Andy Olson), Haley Erickson (Hunter Williams), Erik Grosskopf, and Sara (Matt) Thompson; great grandchildren, Ryan, Grace and Jack; two sisters, Bev Robinson and Lorraine Huntington, sister-in-law, Sally Roth; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kim, on November 20, 1996; and sisters, Nancy Schaefer and Rosie Sanders.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24th, at 2:00 p.m., at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse Chapel, located at 200 West Ave. So. Pastor Tom Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Lilah may be given to the organization of the donors choice.

Lilah was fortunate to live with her daughter, Beth, and her husband, Tim, for three years after Jack died. During this time, they gave her wonderful, loving care which she was thankful for. The last seven weeks, she resided at Hillview Terrace, which she adapted to better than we ever imagined thanks to the staff, especially Connie, who took Mom under her wing.

Mom is now united with Jack, the love of her life, and will spend thier 65th wedding anniversary with him on May 22thndth.

We love you, Mom. Rest in peace.
