Darlene C. Anderson, 78 of La Crosse and formerly of Holmen, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Clare Bridge Assisted Living facility in La Crosse. She was born in rural Pope County, Minnesota on June 26, 1934 to George and Rose (Thompson) Dosdall. She married Donald Anderson on March 8, 1952 in Morris, MN, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2008.

Darlene had been a homemaker until all her children were in school at which time she began cooking at Syls Place, Maple Grove and then Schmitys. She had lived in rural Holmen for 35 years and retired from the Holmen School district as Director of Food Services. Following her retirement, she moved to Barnes, WI, until returning to the Coulee Region in 2007.

She is survived by her son Dale (Rita) Anderson of La Crosse, her four grandchildren Sarah Anderson of Caledonia, MN, Scott Anderson of La Crosse, Nina (Elias) Nyakpor of Lome, Togo, West Africa, Jessie Anderson, enlisted with the United States Army, Colorado, her great grandchildren, Ryley, Alyssa, Tyler, Robbie, Harryson, Madalyn and Anderson. She is further survived by her sisters Irene (Ardell) Bratland of Watertown, SD and Joyce (Stanley) Rankin of San Antonio, TX. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter Renee Berkman, one son David Anderson, one Grandson Henry Lee, one Brother Lloyd Dosdall and one sister Grace Heinrich.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Clare Bridge assisted living, the staff of Gundersen Hospice, Dr. Marcia Kendall and the entire palliative care staff at Gundersen Health System.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel. Rev. Dean Staffanson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Halfway Creek Cemetery, rural Holmen. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Gundersen Hopice program in Darlenes memory.
