Betty G. Peterson Betty Boop, of La Crosse passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 16, 1947 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Virgil and Lorraine (Schaldach) Hoffman. Betty grew up in La Crosse and was a graduate of Central High School. She married Allen Peterson from Blair, Wisconsin, and they later divorced but remained very close friends. Betty was a very proud and loving mother of four daughters, fourteen grandchildren, six and a half great grandchildren and her cherished dog Mika.
Betty was the owner of Bettys Sports Inn for many years. She was a huge Packer fan who was loved by many. It brought great joy for Betty to sponsor her annual golf outings, softball, bowling, darts, pool and racing. You could also stop in and know Betty was always up for a good card game. Anyone whos ever been to Bettys for a Packer game will always remember the sound of the touchdown bell. Family was very important to our mother. We have so many special memories that we will always cherish. She left this world with her heart overflowing with love.
She is survived by four daughters Paula (Dan) Clark, Penny Lowrey (Dave Wieland), Peggy (Nich) West and Patty Peterson. Fourteen grandchildren Crystal, Kristie, Amber, Ceaira, Ryan, Brad, Danny, Brittany, Travis, Brianna, Cody, Cassidy, Courtney and Logan. Six and a half great grandchildren Ariana, Landon, Mikaela, Aiden, Brody, Cayson and one on the way, One brother Vince (Ceil) Hoffman of Brooklyn Center,MN, a niece Lisa and a nephew Vince. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a half- brother, and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like extend a personal thank you to the caring staff from Gundersen Health System, Schumacher Kish Funeral Home, along with her many friends for their love and support. As Betty would say GO PACK GO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Schumacher Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, La Crosse Chapel, 200 West Ave. S. Pastor Kelly Heide will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 PM and again on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
