He was born in La Crosse on March 8, 1932, to Max and Ruth Peshak. Bob graduated from Aquinas High School and attended Wisconsin State College and Coleman Institute. He served nine years in the 32thndth Division Field Artillery as Gunnery Sergeant Section Chief. On May 12, 1956, Bob married Ruth Ann Lee and they had three children.
Bob worked for the Trane Company for 42 years holding positions in Mechanical Engineering, and retired as Engineering Manager-Laboratory Testing in 1993. He served a term as employer representative on the W.W.T.C. Board and also served on the W.W.T.C. Mechanical Design Advisory Committee. He was a long-time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was active in the Mens Club. Bob was an avid fisherman and was a long-time high school football referee. He also coached junior high school football. Along with Don Benden and Father Rossiter, Bob co-founded the La Crosse Independent Junior High Football League.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Susan (Douglas) Miller of Waterloo, Wis.; Three grandchildren and two great grandsons, Curtis (Stephanie) Miller and their sons, Alec and Blake, all of Monroe, Wis., Kristin (Ron) Nelson of Stevens Point, Wis., and Laura Miller of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Jacqueline Mitchell of Sarasota, Fla.; sister-in-law, Lois Small of Appleton, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Rybold of Holmen; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Ruth Peshak; a daughter, Debra Schlegel on October 24, 2008; a son, Daniel Peshak on September 17, 2010; a sister, Vivian Rybold; brother-in-law, Howard Schell; and one niece and one nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. David Olson will officiate. Entombment will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Aquinas Foundation. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse is assisting the family with arrangements.
