Olene Selma (Rudser) Ristow, 84 of La Crosse passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center. She was born February 20, 1929 in Vernon County, WI to Melvin and Kaia (Christopherson) Rudser and graduated from Viroqua High School. Olene was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua. On August 22, 1959 she married Gerald A. Ristow in Viroqua and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1985.
Olene had worked in the business office at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse for 42 years until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52 Womens Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose Lodge 1920 in La Crosse.
Olene is survived by two sons; Kurt Ristow of La Crosse and Erik (Eva) Ristow of Orlando, FL; three brothers, Marion (Carol) Rudser of Viroqua, Selmer Rudser of Viroqua and Sigurd (Marilyn) Rudser of Bangor, WI; two sisters, Arvella Hauge of Viroqua and Sonya (Lloyd) Olson of Onalaska, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, Alvin Hauge and a sister-in-law, Clarice Rudser.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in La Crosse with Rev. Bruce Iverson officiating. Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Memorials are suggested to the Gundersen Heart Institute or Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
