Florence L Lovold

d. June 17, 2013

Florence Flo L. Lovold, 92, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. She was born in La Crosse on June 10, 1921 to Louis and Clara (Swenson) May, the oldest of four children. Flo graduated from Logan High School in 1939. As a war bride, Florence traveled to Bremerton, WA to marry Stanley R. Lovold on March 16, 1943. They returned to La Crosse where they raised four children. A committed wife, mother and homemaker, Florence involved herself in the lives of her children as well as many relatives, while Stan ran and grew R. H. Lovold. Her life was characterized by self - enrichment and enjoyment of all people surrounding her. She loved traveling with family, extended family and friends. She cultivated a life long interest in finances, current events and sports, especially the Brewers, the Packers and Badgers. Always an avid reader, she transitioned to talking books as her eye sight failed. As a volunteer, she counseled individuals losing their eye sight. She relished playing bridge, poker, cribbage and later assisted bingo.

Florence is survived by four children, Jeffrey (Kathleen) Lovold of San Rafael, CA, Dennis Lovold of Myrtle Beach, SC, Susan (Stephen) Sprehn of La Crosse, WI and Karen (Michael) Schultz of Onalaska, WI, grandchildren Grant (Joann) Schultz, Amanda Byom, Dustin Schultz, Rebecca (Brent) Brooks, Braden (Anne) Sprehn, Kathryn Lovold and Nicole Severson, twelve great grandchildren, a sister Marian (Karl T.) Yellick along with many nieces, nephews and heart - felt friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1975, a brother Donald (Diane) May, a sister Joyce Olson and a sister-in-law Nancy (Kevin) Bagan.
