She was born in La Crosse on June 10, 1921 to Louis and Clara (Swenson) May, the oldest of four children. Flo graduated from Logan High School in 1939. As a war bride, Florence traveled to Bremerton, WA to marry Stanley R. Lovold on March 16, 1943. They returned to La Crosse where they raised four children. A committed wife, mother and homemaker, Florence involved herself in the lives of her children as well as many relatives, while Stan ran and grew R. H. Lovold.
