Irene M Wang

Irene M. Wang, 94 of La Crosse, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. She was born in La Crosse on June 19, 1919 to George and Regina (Kuehn) Kabat. She married Orville Wang in La Crosse in January of 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1978. Irene had worked as a waitress at Stephans Maple Grove Restaurant for several years and later at the La Crosse Garment Company for over twenty years.

She is survived by her three sons, Roger Wang of La Crosse, Richard (Monica) Wang of Berlin, WI, Thomas (Karen) Wang of La Crosse, three daughters, Sharon (Jim) Woods, Judy (Thomas) Dohlby, Pat (Bob) Kessler all of La Crosse, her grandchildren Mike (Gin) Wang of La Crescent, MN, Debbie (Mike) Noe of Birmingham, AL, Lisa Wang of Naples, FL, Kevin (Kelly) Dohlby, Kelly (Scott) Korish, Karrie (Darin) Streeck and Todd Woods all of La Crosse, Wade (Vickie) Woods of Stoddard, WI, Bonnie Sweeney of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Christina (Craig) Marx, Jenny (Steve) Wang all of Oshkosh, Chad (Raya) Richardson of Bangor, WI, David (Kristin) Richardson of Mankato, MN, Phillip (Nicole) Richardson of Onalaska; great grandchildren Grace, Alex and Samantha Marx, Matthew Noe, Zach and Cole Woods, Kurt and Kylie Dohlby, Kate (Tyler) Pongratz, Wyatt and Ava Wang, Ciara Beatty, Abby Richardson, Mason and Makayla Richardson, Kam, Connor and Courtney Korish, Cassie (Ryan) Klick, Jenna and Ryan Sweeney, Keegan and Kenna Streeck and Bradyn Richardson. She is further survived by her great great granddaughter Kora Pongratz, one sister Delores Ekland of La Crosse, sisters in law Audrey Kabat of La Crosse, Ruth Kabat of Madison, WI, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one son Howard, three brothers Richard, Donald and Robert Big John Kabat and one sister Lorraine Kaufman.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sheila Momont, Laurie from Podiatry, the emergency room staff and 6th floor CCU staff at Gundersen Health System for the excellent care that was given to mom. Her beautiful soul and spirit will be missed by all, but never forgotten by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. So. La Crosse. Deacon Frank Abnet will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 until 7 pm and again at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10am until the time of services.
