"In May, 1958, they moved to La Crosse, WI where Art worked for Trane Company. In 1961, Art went to work for Lackore Electric in La Crosse which he eventually purchased in 1965. His business expanded with the purchase of Lackore Electric Motor Repair in Winona, MN in 1987. Art retired from his business in 1993. His sons carry on Arts legacy. Art was a proud member of many various organizations including St. Patricks Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Councils 839 and 5458 for which he served each as Grand Knight, past treasurer for Korean War Veterans, Eagles Aerie 1254, the Elks Lodge, Art was named Irishman of the Year in 1998 for the Shamrock Club, Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530 in La Crosse and the American Legion Post 336 in Onalaska. On May 4, 2013 he participated in the Freedom Honor Flight to Washington DC. Survivors are his loving wife, Shirley; a daughter, Linda Gale; three sons, Artie (June) Gale, Joe (Lisa) Gale and Paul (Dawn) Gale; eight grandchildren, AJ, Jacob (Bethany), Sara, Samantha, Christian, Sydney, Gabriel, and Clay; one great-grandson, Rylan; and sister, Donna Kuehn of Paducah, Kentucky.He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary C. Dolly Gale, and a brother-in-law, Elvin Kuehn.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 5th at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Onalaska with Monsignor Steven Kachel officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of Onalaska is assisting the family.
