Anahmarie Ebner

d. June 30, 2013

Anahmarie (Voss) Ebner, 74, of La Crescent, MN, placed her hand in Gods on June 30, 2013, completing her 5-1/2 year journey with multiple myeloma.

Ann was born Aug. 15, 1938, to Walter and Anna (Papenfuss) Voss in La Crosse, WI . She graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1955, and on Aug. 31, 1957, she married Dale Ebner, her high school sweetheart, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. She was employed by Trane Co., G. Heileman Brewery and the School District of La Crosse as an Administrative Assistant for 22 years to both the Superintendent of Schools and School Board. Following her retirement in 2000, Ann enjoyed her involvement with a variety of groups, including the La Crescent-Hokah School District, Mayo Clinic, and NARFE. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, serving on the church council for three years. Ann enjoyed the fellowship of the Multiple Myeloma Support Group, Hogan retirees, and Central HS Breakfast Club.

Ann lived her life as a true servant leader and supporter of her family, friends, and coworkers, always putting the needs of others before her own. She provided an excellent role model for her children and grandchildren to follow both spiritually and socially. Her faith never wavered during difficult times and she always made sure that others were lifted up and felt that they were the most important person in the world when they were around her. Kindness, thoughtfulness, and compassion were her hallmarks in life. She delighted in watching the growth of her grandchildren and attendance at their events was a priority for her. Ann was honored in August of 2012 to serve as a cancer survivor spokesperson at the Houston County Relay for Life where she was surrounded by her friends and family.

Ann is survived by her husband, Dale of La Crescent; her children, Debra (Mark) White of La Crescent, David (Teresa ODonnell-Ebner) Ebner of La Crescent, and Dena (Mike) Mundy of Rochester, MN, grandchildren Maria (Ryan) Henry, Aaron and Anna White, Steven and Kim Ebner and Jacob Nichols, and Abigail and Samantha Mundy, brother Marlyn Dutch Voss of La Crescent and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Anna Voss, a brother and sister-in-law Ray and Audree Voss, sister-in-law Annie Voss and her in-laws Art and Vi Ebner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent. Pastor Michael Woods will officiate. Burial will follow in the Prince Of Peace Cemetery, rural La Crescent. Visitation for friends and family will be held at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent Chapel, 111 South Oak St., on Friday evening from 5 until 7 P.M. and again at the church on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.

Anns family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System, especially Dr. Kyla Lee for her dedication and compassion, Dr. Ronald Go and Dr. John Farnen and the oncology, palliative care and hospice staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Anns memory.
