Erv enjoyed fishing the back waters of the Mississippi and the Jakes around Minocqua, hunting in his earlier days, especially a certain duck hunting adventure with his father-in-law. He also enjoyed travelling and was at one time a licensed pilot. He enjoyed the Brewers and Packers; having a special place in his heart for Eddie Mathews and Ray Nitschke
.
The thing that brought Erv the most joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his two granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of West Salem, one daughter Lynette (Eric) Hart of Gustavus, Alaska, one son, James of West Salem, two granddaughters, Marin and Madelyn Hart of Gustavus, and one sister Alona Schultz of Kendall, WI. He also survived by three aunts: Delores Worden and Mazie Haseley both of Tomah, and Frances Schanofer of Sparta. Two brothers-in-law: Dale Beier of La Crosse, and Terry (Barb) Rick of Onalaska, many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his loyal companion Mollie the Beagle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernal and Audrey, in-laws Lyndon and Florence Rick, sister- in-law Kay Beier, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, July 23thrdth, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in West Salem. Pastor Vern Skarstad and Pastor Jean Schmidt
will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Burial with military honors will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse.
