Therese K Kuschel

Therese K. Kuschel, 79 of La Crosse passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Hillview Healthcare Center. She was born November 20, 1933 in La Crosse to Roy and Gertrude (Merfeld) Opdahl and attended Aquinas High School. On January 29, 1951 she married Harold Kuschel in Bossier, LA while Harold was serving in the United States Air Force.

Therese had worked for many years at McDonalds and Shopko South in La Crosse. She and Harold loved to square dance and belonged to the Happy Twirlers and other local square dance clubs. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Harold, she is survived by five children; Jack (Linda) Kuschel of La Crosse, Ken (Vickie) Kuschel of Holmen, Jan (Mark) Horihan of West Salem, Nancy (Randy) Haas of La Crosse and Mark (Tracy) Kuschel of Texas; 9 grandchildren, Jeff, Rachel, Kimberly, Kailah, Patrick, Shannon, Brian, Cecilia and Ethan; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Haville of Sparta, Virginia (Dick) Juen and Mary Havlik both of La Crosse; two brothers, Ed (Carol) Opdahl and Ken (Jeri) Opdahl both of La Crosse; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristen Kuschel and a sister, Rita Dingeldein.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, August 1thstth at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse with Rev. Douglas Robertson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum, Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 PM and again on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
