" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 8ptPeter M. Kendhammer, 70, of Onalaska died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 20, 2013. After a short battle with lung cancer he was claimed by the Father Almighty surrounded by his family.
He married Patricia A. Derouin, his wife of 48 years on Sept. 4, 1965. He worked for 22 years as a groundskeeper at the Catholic Cemetery of La Crosse beginning at age 13. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis stationed at Key West, Florida. He was an excellent mechanic for Wettsteins until he began working the job he loved most as Operations Manager at Carroll Heights in La Crosse, from which he retired in 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Pat, four daughters: Maria Kenhammer, Paula (William) Finn, Laura (Thomas) Horton and Audra Kendhammer, and 10 grandchildren: TaLea, Tom Tom, Elizabeth, Shannon, Lauren, Erin, Jonathan, Melody, Phillip and Stephen, his brother Thomas (Jeannine) Kendhammer, mother in law Lorraine Derouin and sisters in law Kathy (Ronald) Faas and Jo Ann Derouin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ruth Kendhammer.
He loved spending time on the computer and watching Old Westerns on the tv. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and feline guardian Lulu.
Friends may call on the family Friday evening at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services Onalaska chapel from 4 until 6 P.M. A Private family Mass will be held at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Onalaska with Monsignor Steven Kachel officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
