Richard D Prinsen

d. August 21, 2013

HOLMEN Richard D. Prinsen, 71 of Holmen, WI, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday August 21, 2013, surrounded by his family.

Rich was born on January 13, 1942 in La Crosse, WI, the son of Elaine Babe (Fuoter) and Harold Prinsen and raised on the Northside.

A devoted Northsider and 1960 graduate of Logan High School, Rich married Candyce Bangsburg and had a daughter, Brook. They later divorced and Rich met and married Sue (Pahl) Dikeman and helped raise Sue's sons, John and Jeff.

Rich worked in construction most of his adult life. He was the proud owner/operator of Rich's Bobcat Services for over 40 years until his retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with and watching his grandchildren grow up. Rich courageously battled cancer for 21 years, but despite this, Rich and Sue were able to travel and took many vacations. Most recently they went on an Alaskan Cruise with family and friends.

Rich is survived by his wife, Sue; his daughter and son in law, Brook Prinsen and Paul Ricker; stepsons, John (Patricia) Dikeman and Jeff (Sara) Dikeman; a brother Tom (Mary Ellen) Prinsen; grandchildren, Adam, Alex, Henry and Olivia Dikeman, Connor Duncan, Matthew (Anne) Ricker and Joanne (Paul) Davies; great grandchildren, Laila and Isabel Davies and Phoebe and William Ricker; special nephews, Ryan and Brandon Prinsen; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Carol) Pahl and Gerald Lenz; sisters-in-law, Sally (Don) Johnson and Mary Suchanek.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters-in-law; Judy Lenz and Jane Rezin.

There will be a celebration of Rich's life at the American Legion, Onalaska, on Friday, August 30, 2013 between 3pm and 7pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Oncology and Radiation departments of the Gundersen Health Systems; Drs, Conway, Jumonville and Redmond; the staff of Gundersen Hospice; and Rich's support nurse and friend for the past 21 years, Cathy Juran. Their care and compassion have touched us all. Memorials may be made to the Gundersen Hospice program.
