Jill Ann Eskeli

Jill was born in La Crosse on January 16, 1946 to the late Roman and Rosemary (Klinski) Meyer. Jill was married to Gerhard Nichols, until he passed in 1978. She remarried Rodney Eskeli on July 31, 1987, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and they spent their lives together in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin until moving back to La Crosse in June, 2013.

Jill enjoyed spending time with her husband and interacting with the Native Americans of Minnesota. She was considered as Little Sister to them. Jill was also known to drive an occasional racecar and won the Powder Puff Race. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt to her family.

Jill is survived by her husband, Rodney Eskeli, La Crosse; son, Donald Nichols, Bismarck, North Dakota; brother, John Meyer, Fountain Hills, Arizona; sisters Janice (Daniel) Hayes, Raleigh, North Carolina; Jane (Tom) Schye, Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Juliet (Rodney) Steiger, La Crosse; Janel (Mehmet) Parlar, Sugarland, Texas; sister-in-law Evelyn, Minneapolis, Minnesota; sister-in-law Glenyce, Plummer, Minnesota, and brother-in-law Bruce, Plummer, Minnesota.

Jill is further survived by granddaughter, Molly Meyer-Traynor, Glendive, Montana; step-granddaughter Jenny Sidentop, Elgin, Illinois, great-grandchildren Ronan and Rylee Traynor, Glendive, Montana; as well as step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Matthew Nichols; brothers, Jerome and Joseph, her sister, Joyce and in-laws Woodrow and Laina Eskeli.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 5th, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Rev. Keith J. Kitzhaber will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services.
