Mary E. Stuhr, 81 of Onalaska, went home to the Lord on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born December 25, 1931 in Milwaukee to Paul and Ethel (Koula) Bigley. In 1954 Mary married Roger Schmidt in Iowa and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1960. She then married Samuel Stuhr in 1961 in Iowa and they later divorced. Mary had owned and operated many rental properties in Onalaska and La Crosse for many years. Mary was a strong woman, surviving two near fatal accidents and overcoming four separate fights with cancer. She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Patricks Catholic Parish in Onalaska.

Mary is survived by two daughters; Cheryl (Tom) Schiffer of Onalaska and Lori (Dick) Leighty of Ettrick, WI; a son, Samuel (Betsy) Stuhr of Franklin, WI; six grandchildren; Todd (Shelly) Ferguson of West Salem, Katie (Mike) Kabat of Onalaska, Kevin (Autumn) Roland of Wheaton, IL, Kyle (Kelli) Roland of Clarksville, TN, Geoffrey Stuhr and Lauren Stuhr both of Franklin, WI and several step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, Skylar, McKennah and Addyson Ferguson; McKinley, Aurora and Juniper Kabat, along with two more great-grandchildren on the way which Mary so much wanted to meet; a sister, Judith Holter of Onalaska and a nephew, Jarrod (Janet) Holter also of Onalaska. In addition to her first husband Roger, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Vicki Bigley; a brother-in-law, Carsten Holter and her mother-in-law, Agnes Schmidt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 11th at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Onalaska with Msgr. Steven Kachel officiating. Burial will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Patricks Catholic Church. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of Onalaska is assisting the family. As grandma would say; She came, she lived, she left.
