Marie F Ziel

Marie Frances Ziel, 94, of Onalaska, died on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Onalaska Care Center. She was born on September 17, 1918 in Sparta, Wisconsin to Cleo and Georgia (Hutson) Mulock. She graduated from Sparta High School in 1936. Marie went on to attend Coleman Business School for 1 years. She then enrolled in Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN, graduating in 1941. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps for 14 months in Hospital Unit 1620 at Fort McCoy. Marie married Robert Ziel on September 24, 1949 at the Onalaska United Methodist Church. She worked at La Crosse Lutheran Hospital for 32 years, serving mostly in Obstetrics and Gynecology Units. She retired in December 1980. Marie was an active member of Onalaska United Methodist Church and the Onalaska Senior Citizens. She enjoyed many years of needlework and playing cards.

She is survived by two daughters Jane (Don) Seeger of Ft. Wayne, IN and Joanne (John) Penix of Broken Arrow, OK, one son Charles (Laurie) Ziel of Wittenberg, WI, five grandchildren Chris, Todd, Dean, Jodi and Tyler, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandsons, one brother Robert (Loraine) Mulock of Onalaska. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, sisters Jean Fluekiger and Fern Zuzek, a brother Charles Mulock and a grandson Matthew.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Onalaska United Methodist Church. Pastor Jenny Arneson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Onaslaka City Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Onalaska United Methodist Church. The Schumacher Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, Onalaska Chapel is assisting the family.
