She married Edward F. Kanieski Sr. on September 4, 1942 in Nekoosa, Wisconsin by Rev. Marian Schneider and witnessed by friends and family. In February of 1945 she gave birth to Edward F. Kanieski Jr. and was delighted to have the little addition to her family. She was ecstatic to be a full time mother to this little blessing. In October of 1952 she welcomed a second bundle into the family. Times were challenging and money was tight, but she always made the best of it and said, Tomorrow will be better, boys. She was very proud when Edward Jr. graduated high school in 1964, showing that blindness has no effect on a persons determination to achieve. She glowed with pride and joy in 1971 when she witnessed Edward Jr. graduate college with a bachelors degree, the first in her family to do so. When her other son, Daniel B. Kanieski entered the military, she loving encouraged him despite her fears for him. She beamed when Daniel came to visit in his pressed uniform. She could not be any more grateful that her two boys accomplished so much.
In November of 1973, was thrilled to witness Edward Jr. get married and lovingly welcomed her daughter-in-law to the family. She joked with her daughter-in-law that she was eager to have a grandchildren. In January of 1975, she was over the moon when her first of four grandchildren were born. Later that year, she was deeply saddened to lose her husband. Mildred missed him greatly. In 1978, she was overjoyed at the arrival of her second grandson. Both of her grandsons were healthy, happy and a joy she cherished. After his military service, Daniel had two children, a son and daughter. Mildred so loved her grandchildren that she jumped at the chance to see them and watch them anytime she could. She even sang while changing diapers and giving them baths with her blue eyes twinkling.
Mildred and her infectious smile and laugh will be greatly missed. She brought love, joy, laughter, strength and perseverance to our hearts. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Edward (Colleen) Kanieski, Daniel Kanieski, four grandchildren, Edward I.
