La Vonne Dorothy Kearns

"She married Charles R. Kearns in Hokah, MN, on July 7, 1951. They were blessed with three children, Michael, Connie, and Patrick. There wasn't anything she couldn't do from knitting, crocheting, sewing, painting, gardening, home repair, and doll making. She was well known for her decorated Christmas cookie plates and delicious cream puffs. She worked bingo for many years at the Crucifixion Elementary School and was a member of the Joan of Arc Circle.The granddaughters looked forward to receiving a new Christmas dress made every year by Grandma LaVonne. LaVonne and her best friend, Jeanette Graf, were well known for their beautiful wedding cakes that they made. LaVonne and Charlie traveled extensively to Europe. Her greatest joy was spending times with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; parents Rudy and Lena; two sisters, Shirley and Susie; and two brothers, Bob and Don.

Survivors include sons, Michael (Dawn) of La Crosse, and Patrick (Margaret) of Trempealeau; daughter Connie of Peterson; grandchildren Erin (Dan)Wille, Patrick; Ian, Niall (Signe),Whitney; Dylan, Ashley (Josh) Swenson, and Meghan (Brad) Schossow; great-grandchildren Austin, Julia, Rylie, Reagan, Caylin, and Jaxon; one brother Jerry (Phyllis) Walcker and one sister-in-law, Carol Walcker; and many nieces and nephews and best friend, Jeanette (Al) Graf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 26 at the Church of the Crucifixion La Crescent. Father Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial will be in the Crucifixion Cemetery in La Crescent. A visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Crucifixion Church or Crucifixion Elementary School in La Crescent, MN.
