Esther V. Reagles, 96 of La Crossepassed away in her sleep on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the HillviewHealthcare Center. She was born in La Crosse on September 27, 1916 to Edgar andAmelia (Heiney) Emery.On August 19, 1933 she married HaroldReagles in Winona, Minnesota. Harold and Esther had eight children throughtheir sixty-three years of marriage. Husband Harold died on November 27, 1996and Esther continued her never ending love to her children and many friends.She loved children and everyone whose life she touched. Esther followed Haroldin every up and down of life and made many friends wherever they lived,especially the 19 years they spent in Kenosha, WI. They returned to La Crosseupon Harolds retirement. Esther had a deep love of music ofall kinds and thoroughly enjoyed her acquaintance with Ed and Sally Sullivanwhich naturally grew once again another warm friendship. Esther was a championhomemaker, a skilled cook and baker driven by love. She expanded these traitsas a nurse assistant at Lutheran Hospital, kitchen cook at St. Michaels Homefor Children, and was the spark that started the George Street Caf featuringthe Paul Bunyan Burger. Esther is a reminder of the good times.Her life was surrounded in her deepfaith in God and she always had a Bible at her reach and devotional clippings.She was a long time member of Bible Baptist Church in La Crosse. She seldom hadbad words, always liked to visit and had an exceptional keen sense of dignityof herself and others. She truly set the example of a nice lady with herfirst hello. A candy dish was always at hand accompanied with a warm smile.Esther is survived by daughter,Jacqueline White of La Crescent, MN; sons, Lloyd (Mattie) Reagles of SaltonCity, CA, James (Ann) Reagles of El Cajon, CA, Gary (Rosa) Reagles of Thermal,CA and Ronald (Cheryl) Reagles of Spearfish, SD; many grandchildren,great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Esther waspreceded in death by husband Harold; son Richard; daughter, SherryLuhman-Barnes; one stillborn child; sisters, Emma Storey, Helen Kish, RoseKrismer, Harriet Williams and Lillian Dummer; brothers, Williams Emery andRinehart Emery; son-in-law, Ronald Luhman, son-in-law, Delbert White;daughter-in-law, Shirley Reagles; grandson, Gary Dean Reagles, Jr.; andgranddaughter, Beverly J. Reagles.Special thanks to special friendsLaVerne Samb, Beverly Kish, Margie and Al Lubben and nieces Debbie Storey andPat Nelson. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Springbrook CBRF staff,Western Wisconsin Cares (Theresa SSW and nurse Kim) and the entire staff atHillview Healthcare for all that youve done for Esther.Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AMTuesday, October 1thstth at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and CremationServices, La Crosse Chapel with Pastor Ben Terpstra officiating. Entombmentwill follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the funeralhome on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowersmemorials are preferred to the Childrens Miracle Network, 1910 South Ave., LaCrosse, WI 54601. Esther was a devoted wife and motherwho was very much loved by her family and will be dearly missed.
