She was born in Little Falls, Minn., on June 1, 1925, to Aloysios and Frances (Zientek) Blazejewski. She attended W.W.T.I. in La Crosse, obtaining her certificates in Medical Assistant and in Food Service. She had been employed by Pyroil, Continental Can and Bethany-St. Joseph.
Throughout her adult life, Marcella was active in the Salvation Army. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Home League. She also served as a house mother for unwed mothers in Wauwatosa, Wis., for a short time.
When Marcella lived in Stokke Tower in La Crosse, she served as a resident representative and she was also a member of the Women of the Moose, Clintonville Chapter.
Marcella is survived by twin daughters, Rebecca Ann (Edward) Johnson of Clintonville, Wis., and Joy Agnes Benson of Holmen; a son, Neil Douglas Hommer of Vallejo, Cal.; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Amber Ann (Charles) Reimer III of New Franklin, Wis., Amber Dee Johnson of Madison, Wis., Rachel M. Pishion of La Crescent and her children, Samantha Krista Marie Peterson and Nicholas Anthony Peterson. She is further survived by two sisters, Kathleen Nelson of La Crosse and Blanche Striegel of McMinnville, Tenn.; one brother, Louis (Rosemary) Blazejewski of Green Valley, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Bert D. Pishion and Clifford R. Benson; three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2thndth, at 11:00 a.m., at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services-La Crosse Chapel located at 200 West Ave. So. Major Paul Moore will officiate. Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse at a later date.
Marcellas family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Hillview Health Care Center for the wonderful care they gave to her over the past eleven years.
