Martha Elsen

C. Martha Elsen, 87 of La Crosse, died on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born in La Crosse on June 8, 1926 to Olaf and Ida (Anderson) Myrhum. She had graduated from La Crosse Central High School on June 8, 1944. On January 29, 1949 she married Francis A. Fritz Elsen at St. James Catholic Church in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2009. Martha had worked at the Trane Company, Sears and Estelles Tall Fashions for many years.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy J. Walton of La Crosse and Nancys friend Jim Luhman of Mazomanie, WI, one son Richard P. Elsen of La Crosse, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Fritz she was preceded in death by one son Thomas and one brother Ole.

A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Mary Mother of The Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church La Crosse. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call on the family at the church Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral And Cremation Services La Crosse chapel is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donors choice.
