Carl O. Lenser, 89, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital.
He was born in La Crosse, on October 2, 1924 to Henry and Emma (Loeffler) Lenser. He married Lois Spika on June 26, 1948 in La Crosse at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Carl was a lifelong member of First Lutheran where he attended grade school. He later graduated from La Crosse Central High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was later employed by Northern States Power Company (NSP) for forty years before retiring In 1986. Carl was a member of the American Legion Post 52 La Crosse, the Governors Guard and the OWLS group at First Lutheran church. In his retirement he very much enjoyed his time volunteering at Gundersen Clinic.
Carl enjoyed all sports, especially hockey, golf and bowling. He was an avid Badger and Packer fan, enjoyed walking in the annual Chileda benefit walk/run, and was a very vocal fan during his sons athletic activities.
The most significant part of his life was his family. He is survived by his wife Lois; his children Michael (Deborah) Lenser of Janesville, WI; Robert (Ruth) Lenser of La Crosse; Kurt (Leslie) Lenser of Northville, Michigan; and Karl (Melanie) Lenser of Conway, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers-Ed, John, Milton, and Wilbert; and two sisters-Grace Young and Evelyn Lenser.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 at First Lutheran Church, La Crosse on Thursday, October 31, 2013. The Reverend Roger Sachs will officiate and burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:00 services .
Memorials may be directed to First Ev. Lutheran Church, the church grade schools wish list, or to Luther High School, Onalaska. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel is assisting the family.
