Ruth Marie (Obershaw) Kundy

Ruth Marie (Obershaw) Kundy, 96 of LaCrosse passed away peacefully Friday, Nov 8th at her home.

She was born in LaCrosse on Nov. 3, 1917, to Adolph and Amanda (Selbrede) Olson. Ruth graduated from West Salem High School in 1935 and was the last living classmate. Ruth worked for many years at the lunch counter at the downtown Woolworth store. On May 21thstth, 1938 she was married to Robert Obershaw who subsequently passed away in 1961. On April 24th, 1971 she was united in Marriage to Marlin Kundy. Ruth was an active member of The First Evangelical Lutheran Church in LaCrosse. Ruth loved serving others, playing cards, bowling (bowling until 85 years old) and enjoyed every minute with her family. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marty; daughter Kathryn; son-in-law Richard Holt; granddaughter Tammy Holt; brothers Everett and Melvin; sisters-in-law Evelyn Olson and Ann Olson.

Survivors include three sons William (Judy) Obershaw of Boulder Jct,Wis., Michael (Lylace) Obershaw of Janesville,Wis., David Obershaw of LaCrosse,Wis.; step son Dan Kundy of LaCrosse and step daughter Deb Miller of LaCrosse. Four brothers Maynard Olson of St. Paul Mn.; Howard Olson of West Salem Wi.; Willard Olson of Brice Prairie, Wi.; Lester Olson of LaCrosse,Wi. One sister Donna Dovenberg of West Salem, Wi. Thirteen grandchildren; Ryan, Chad, Shelley, Niclole, Jeff, Tim, Troy, Rob, Todd, Jed, Ryan, Cheri, Heather. Sixteen great-grandchildren; Zachary, Paige, Nathan, Cole, Emma, Sawyer, Sydney, Addison, Aiden, Emily, Kimberly, Brian, Theresa, Megan, Morgan and Fern. Three great-great- grandchildren; Trevin, Shelby and Carson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 13th at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse with Rev. Richard Pamperin officiating. Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse on Tuesday from 5-7 P.M., and again at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
