Michael W. Brown, 72 of La Crosse, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Beloit, WI, on March 12, 1941 to Bernard W. and Margaret C. (Kelly) Brown. On May 7, 1966 Mike married the love of his life Rose Trinkes at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph Ridge, WI, and enjoyed 47 years together. He had proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard a ship during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Among his interests and activities, Mike was a member of the Coon Valley American Legion Post 116, he was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and their Mens Club as well as many other boards and committees. In his spare time, Mike was an avid reader, he loved to watch and feed birds and cheer on the Packers and Badgers. For many years he had worked at Leath Furniture before pursuing a dairy farming career with his father in law and brother in law. Ultimately, he retired from Kwik Trip after 17 years of service. He was loved and respected by the many people who knew him.

In addition to his wife Rose of La Crosse, he is survived by two sons, David (Teresa) Brown of La Crosse, Ken (Patti) Brown of Madison, WI, four grandchildren, Ryan, Andy, CJ and Megan, two brothers in law Henry (Pat) Trinkes of Springfield, VA, and Marvin Trinkes of La Crosse and two special grandchildren Luke and Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, WI. Monsignor Michael Gorman will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call on the family at the church onTuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will also be held at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the beginning of Mass. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital in Mikes memory. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center for the loving professional care they provided to Mike during his brief stay.
