He was born in La Crosse on August 26, 1935, to William J. and Margaret M. (Fleitner) Wang. He had been employed by Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse for many years before retiring. In his free time, Jim loved being out on his land in rural La Crosse where he would often hunt deer.
Jim was known as a very kind and friendly person who was always ready with a joke or story to tell. His rough exterior hid a heart of gold. He was a friend to many and genuinely loved to help people out whenever he could. Jim is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth, Richard, William Jr., David, and Orville Bob; and a sister, Jean Ward. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 3thrdth, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, La Crosse Chapel, located at 200 West Ave. So. Private family burial, with military honors, will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery.
