Rose Ann Matzek

Rose A. Matzek, 89 of Holmen, WI, died on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at her home. She was born in Wapaton, N.D. on November 15, 1924 to Arthur and Anna (Meyers) Gwilt. She married Charles Matzek on May 30, 1940 in Red Wing, MN, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 1999.

Rose is survived by her five daughters; Jeannie Patrick of Onalaska, WI, Jeri (Lonnie Holland) Reps of Onalaska, Judy Fredendall of Janesville, WI, Karen (Dan) Lemke of La Crosse, Georgia (Glen) Hanson of Madison, WI, her one son Charles (Rosemary) Matzek of La Crosse, twelve grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and her best buddy Buster who will miss her very much. In addition to her parents and her husband Chuck, she was preceded in death by one son James. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and care providers at Gundersen Health Systems Hospice for the loving care they provided Rose in her final days.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services Onalaska chapel; 907 Sand Lake Road. Pastor Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice program.
