Neil Raymond Spies

Neil was born in La Crosse on July 31, 1925, to Raymond and Marie (Walker) Spies. He married Beverly Hansen on June 1, 1946, in La Crosse. Beverly preceded him in death on November 2, 1997. Neil was employed by La Crosse Concrete for 36 years before retiring in 1988. In his free time, he loved fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed working on his hobby farm and spending time with his dogs, which Neil had a special fondness for. He is survived by two sons, Raymond (Delores) Spies of La Crosse and Craig (Debbie) Spies of Dakota; two daughters, Vicki (David) Atkins of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and Beverly Dulek of Dakota; former daughters-in-law, Sheryl Wrighter and Kirsten Spies; 22 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sons, Michael, Gary, and Charles; and two sisters, Juliane Grimsrud and Betty Martinez. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Neils life which will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 3thrdth, at the Bill Grant Community Center in Dakota. Burial will take place at a later date in the Oakland Cemetery, Dresbach. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used for the maintenance and care of the Oakland Cemetery.
