David F. Mlsna, 63 of Onalaska died on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center. He was born August 8, 1950 in Sparta to Francis and Beverly (Perkins) Mlsna and graduated from Sparta High School in 1968. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. On June 26, 1971 he married Elizabeth Stuessy in Monroe, WI.

Dave and Liz lived in Sparta where he worked for Mack Truck of La Crosse for 14 years until his transfer with the company to Grand Rapids, MI for a year. The couple then moved to Onalaska where Dave worked for the Holmen Concrete Pipe Plant for many years and later for Mathy Construction Company in Sparta in the parts department until his retirement in 2009.

Dave was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Parish in Holmen. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting and camping. Daves most cherished times were spent with family and grandkids, especially during the Christmas season and birthdays.

In addition to his wife Liz, he is survived by a daughter; Jodi Berend (Jim Bunker) of Fredonia, WI; a son, Jason (Michelle) Mlsna of Holmen; his father, Frank Mlsna of West Bend, WI; four grandchildren, Brock and Kaiya Berend both of Fredonia, WI and Reed and Paige Mlsna both of Holmen; a sister, Margie (James) Burgett of West Bend, WI, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly and an infant brother, Mark.

A Memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse with Fr. Todd Mlsna officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM until the time of services. A private family burial will take place in the Onalaska City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Daves family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for Dave throughout his five year cancer journey; as well as the hospice staff, family, neighbors and friends for their caring support, love and visits.
